WILL I BE ABLE TO TAKE IMAGES FOR MY PORTFOLIO?
Youuuu betcha! We’ll be capturing real families, real couples, and real moments in real environments. Each attendee will be given time alone with the families and couples to capture them the way YOU want to capture them. No elbowing into a crowd to get the shot, and for sure, absolutely no judgement by others while you shoot. Just you and who you’re documenting. *If during that time you’d like help or pointers, we will be there to assist, but for the most part, its all you baby and we believe in you.
WHERE’S THE WORKSHOP? WHERE DO I STAY?
The workshop will be in a suburb of Indianapolis. We have an ammaaaazing house we're using with tons of natural light and incredible outdoor space. Lodging is included in the cost — a super great house for or all of us to stay, learn, hang, and bond! If you live in the area we do encourage you to stay at the house with the rest of the attendees. Just because learning sessions are over doesn’t mean the fun ends. We will also be providing delicious food!
WHERE DO I FLY INTO?
You’ll fly right to the Indianapolis Airport if you are flying. As the workshop gets closer we will provide the address to the house to attendees.
DO I NEED A RENTAL CAR?
Nope…. Maybe… possibly. Catching an uber or carpooling with another attendee would be super easy to get to the house and I have a feeling we will have enough cars to make our way around the area for different sessions. The only reason you would need one is if you plan on attaching your own vacation and are arriving early/leaving later.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE RAD WORKSHOP?
If you’re reading this, then we want YOU! This is for the film beginner, the already film photographer, and for the digital shooter. The film beginner: If you’ve never touched a film camera, don’t know what metering or rating is, if you are curious about different film stocks and how the process works, and you want to get your hands dirty and actually shoot – then this is alllll for you. On top of that, we will cover how to find great light, making consistent images, and gear 101. For the already film photographer: learn how to naturally direct and pose families and couples both indoors and outdoors. We’ll also experiment with different lighting, creative shooting, AND diving into the heart of your rad business wherever you want to take it. For digital shooters: while film will be our medium, we’re believers that great photography isn’t’ limited. You’ll gain new information, build your business, and beef up your portfolio.
This will be a high-communal environment where no question is off limits or considered stupid. So if you like people, learning, and diving deeper into film, you’ll love this.
IS THIS FOR WEDDING OR FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHERS?
YES!!!! All four of the instructors have experience with both weddings and families. Our workshop sessions will include portrait sessions with REAL families and REAL couples. This workshop will not heavily focus on how to shoot weddings, but will definitely still be beneficial for both wedding and family photographers.
DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
Camera: If you have a film camera (35mm or 120mm) bring it! It would be good to get more familiar with what you already have. Don’t have one? Not a problem. We’ll have a couple to share and everyone will get shooting time. Again, we’re big fans of digital so if that’s your goal, bring it. However, if film is your goal, leave that baby at home this time!
Light Meter: If you have one, bring it, if not – we’ve got you covered.
Film: We’ll provide 1-2 rolls for you to shoot with but if you have a specific stock you’re wanting to try out, this is the place to do it. (Want suggestions? Drop us an e-mail.)
IS THERE A CAP?
On love? Never. On workshop seats - yep. While we wish we could party with the whole world, we believe that you should get the most out of the workshop as far as teaching, shooting sessions, and just good community times go.
HOW MUCH IS IT? AND IS THERE A PAYMENT PLAN?
Here’s the deal: we want this to be affordable so this investment is a fricken’ steal. It’s $1,650 with an early bird price of $1500. This includes ALL sessions and meals (We're not fans of hangry). Literally all you have to do is get yourself there and that part should be easy.
Just like everything else, the payment plan is awesome! 33% of the total price is required to reserve your seat and then two more payments of 33% will be collected (to be completed 2 months before the workshop date). This means you’re paying 3 super easy payments of $500 or $550 depending on if you snag that early-bird pricing. So yes, this is a great Christmas present idea. Be advised that all payments are non-refundable.
IS THIS SPONSORED BY ANYONE?
Well I’m Glad you asked! We’re excited that THE FIND LAB is a sponsor of The RAD Workshop. They’re throwing in some awesomeness for attendees you won’t want to miss.
